Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy
2.0 FREEDOM OF
INFORMATION AND PROTECTION OF PRIVACY
2.1 General
It is SOLS' intent to follow the principles of the Ontario Freedom of
Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
2.2
Responsibilities
With respect to the right to freedom of information, SOLS will not:
- Reasonably refuse access to information to those from whom it
was collected.
- Refuse requests to have information corrected or updated where
appropriate and consistent with law.
- Operate in any way inconsistent with the Ontario Freedom of
Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
With respect to the right to protection of privacy, SOLS will not:
- Collect information without informing the source of the
information of the purpose(s) for which it is being collected.
- Use information in ways other than the purpose(s) for which it
was collected.
- Disclose information to any third party unless prior written
consent has been obtained or where required by law.
- Operate in any way inconsistent with the Ontario Freedom of
Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
2.3
Guidelines
In the course of doing business, SOLS may collect personal and/or
organizational information from:
- Library staff
- Library trustees
- Library organizations
- Suppliers
- Donors
- SOLS' staff
