Accreditation
SOLS has assigned a group of consultants to provide information,
advice and assistance to support pre-accredited libraries as they put in
place the fundamentals of good library service. These consultants
support the use of the
Ontario
Public Library Guidelines (OPLG) as a planning tool to assist
library staff and trustees in developing their libraries. The Ontario
Public Library Guidelines were developed by the Ontario public library
community to help improve the quality of public library service across
the province. Libraries can work with through the guidelines to develop
a comprehensive process and plan for improvement. Public libraries who
meet the guidelines requirements can request a formal audit through an
accreditation process.
Libraries may also want to
consult the OLS Clearinghouse's
Accreditation Resources page which links to a selection of resources
on aspects of library management that will be useful to libraries
working towards achieving or maintaining accreditation.
SOLS does not charge a fee for any consulting work done with a
library on Orientation to or for work planning using the Ontario Public
Library Guidelines, or for serving on an Accreditation Audit Team.
