Collection Evaluation ServicesThe collection is the basis for much of the service offered by the public library, and it requires time and expertise to manage properly. SOLS provides assistance with collection development, evaluation, and management in a variety of ways. Information and Advice - Assistance is available in the form of workshops, consultation, or ongoing assistance and advice. Workshops include Weeding, Reader’s Advisory, Basic Reference, and Collection Evaluation. Specialized Assistance - Customized workshops or specialized assistance, such as Collection Evaluation, can be provided to formally assess a library’s holdings and its use. Resource Materials - Guides to best practices, suggested standard lists, and information on trends in library collections and usage are available, and will continue to be updated.
