Technology Planning Services
Libraries and their Boards face many challenges when dealing with automation. SOLS provides consultation and tools to assist them with their decision making, their planning, and their assessment of automation options.
Information and Advice - Ongoing advice and assistance is provided to libraries that are automating for the first time, or are upgrading or migrating their automated systems covering topics like Technology Planning, writing an RFP, and evaluation of systems.
Specialized Assistance - SOLS Technology Consultant can provide some specialized assistance or a fee basis, or provide referrals to other sources. See Consulting Fees for more details.
Resource Materials - Several tools have been developed, including a MARC coding training kit, a technology planning guide, and information on standards. SOLS will continue to enhance and enlarge the collection of tools to assist libraries with automation.
