Biography - Gwen Wheeler

Gwen Wheeler has been a consultant with Southern Ontario Library Service since 1992, focusing on the development of small and rural libraries. She has been involved in assisting libraries, particularly in the Saugeen and Simcoe areas, with needs assessments, planning, staffing analysis, and collection development. She participates in training and development initiatives, including the writing and delivery of training clinics, and the management of SOLS’ program of workshops for library staff.

In 2006, Gwen undertook a review of the training requirements for SOLS’ libraries. She has already conducted a survey of EXCEL graduates, and will be incorporating information gathered from workshops and clinics to develop improved training offerings to public libraries.

Prior to working for SOLS, Gwen worked in a special library at the University of Waterloo. Gwen has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Masters degree in library and information science.
