Biography - Rob Lavery, CFRE
Rob Lavery is the Resource Development Consultant for Southern
Ontario Library Service, providing information and training to public
library staff and volunteers in the areas of fundraising and volunteer
management.
He has held this position since Sept 1998, during which time he has
developed and delivered workshops in planned giving, annual planning,
effective grant proposals, capital campaigns, special events and mail
programs, volunteer program management and fundraising roles and
responsibilities; maintained a newsgroup for fundraising staff in
library systems across the province; maintained a clearinghouse of
resources of particular interest to public libraries on a variety of
fundraising topics; and provided consulting on demand for public
libraries on a variety of fundraising topics, including policy
development, working with volunteers, types of campaigns, and new
technologies.
Rob is a Certified Fund Raising Executive, the certification bestowed
by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Rob has been a
professional fundraiser since 1994 and gained his certification in 1999.
In June of 2004, Rob was chosen to apply for AFP International’s Faculty
Training Program. Rob is now one of only 75 designated Master Trainers
for his professional association.
Rob has been a sessional lecturer in fundraising at Humber College
for the post-graduate certificate course in Cultural Management from
2000 to 2005. He also is a facilitator for an online course in Volunteer
Program Management for Georgian College.
