Networking

SOLS provides an environment which offers opportunities for staff and trustees to make contact with each other and share problem-solving solutions and advice. This is done electronically through a variety of Electronic Discussion Lists housed on SOLS website (39 in all), and physically through networking opportunities, such as Trustee Councils, Library Committee Meetings, and a First Nation Gathering.

Trustee Councils, held twice a year in 8 locations, provide an opportunity for trustees to meet their neighbours and share ideas. Library Committee meetings, offered twice a year in 9 locations, give library CEO’s and senior staff an opportunity to discuss common issues and participate in clinics on relevant topics. A First Nation Gathering provides skills development and networking opportunities for First Nations library staff.

In addition, a Fundraising Interest Group meets twice a year.
