E6-Basic Collection Development

ASSIGNMENT 4

Submit this assignment to your tutor by the date given on the schedule accompanying this course.

Your assignment for this module is to set up a short-term buying plan for your library system or branch (pick one or the other). You should list the categories of materials that will be purchased in the next year. Categories may include reference, adult, children’s, replacements, periodicals, paperbacks, or whatever categories are used in your library. Broad categories, such as ‘children’s materials’, should be sub-divided into fiction, non-fiction, audio-visual. Some categories will need little or no subdividing. For example, reference materials are non-fiction so there is no need to allocate within that category. Use the chart below as a template, although more lines can be added. Use the examples from within the module as guides.
