E7- Collection Development for Children
ASSIGNMENT 2
Submit this assignment to your tutor by the date specified on the
schedule accompanying this course. Be sure to put your name on all
pages.
Your assignment for this module is to compare the library’s
collection with a printed selection list. With the course material
provided, you will find a copy of the publication, Our choice.
Compare your picture book collection with the picture book
selection list in Our Choice.
- Check the list against your collection, noting which items are
in your collection.
- Submit a list (include author and title only) of those items
which are in your library.
- Submit a separate list of up to ten items from Our
choice, which you do not have but would consider purchasing.
Include the author, title, publisher and publication date for each
item (so that you know how to order the title), and explain each of
your choices. Each of your entries in this part of the assignment
should look something like:
Bedard, Michael. Redwork. Toronto, Lester & Orpen Dennys,
1990.
I chose this title because it won the 1991 Governor General's
Literary Award and the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year
for Children. It is a story of love, mystery and friendship and I
think might be of interest to the kids in my community.
