8. Collection Development for Young Adults
 

ASSIGNMENT 4

Submit this assignment to your tutor by the date given on the schedule accompanying this course.

For this module, you must examine two (2) non-fiction titles which you think would be appropriate for a young adult.

Note: You may or may not use the YA designation on non-fiction, but choose two titles which would be appropriate for young adults.

Submit the following information about each book. Use a separate sheet for each book.

  1. Bibliographic information: Author (last name, first name), title, publisher, and year
     
  2. Brief summary of the book.
     
  3. Using the evaluation criteria from pages 4 to 10 of the module, comment on the content, accuracy, style and organization of the book.
     
  4. Format: include size, number of pages, whether it is paperback or hardback
     
  5. Interest level: indicate the age range of young adults who are most likely to be interested in the material
     
  6. Controversial points: note any features that might be considered objectionable by some groups
     
  7. Outstanding points: note any features which you consider particularly good.
