ASSIGNMENT 5


Submit this assignment to your tutor by the date given on the schedule accompanying this course. Be sure to include your name on each page and to keep a copy of your assignment.

You must complete all four (4) steps in this assignment. Your assignment should be about one to two pages in length.

  1.  Select three Canadian authors (fiction or non-fiction). Read or at least skim through each of the books you selected.
  2. Using your collection, locate biographical information on each author. Write a short profile for each author. Suggested sources for this information: The Canadian Encyclopedia, the jacket of the book, newspaper clippings, almanac, etc.)
  3. Locate any literary criticism, newspaper articles or book reviews concerning the work of each author using only the material in your collection. Record where you found this information. If no information could be located in your collection, note this and list the type of sources checked.
  4. Answer the following questions:

Have you ever been asked for this type of information in your library?

Do you feel that there is enough information in your collection to answer this type of question?

Do you ever go outside of your own library to locate this type of information?
