EXCEL: A certificate program in
managing a small public library

EXCEL Student Assessment Forms

EXCEL is a program that has been in existence since 1987, and we are very proud of our work in the continuing education field. Library staff from public libraries across the province have enjoyed the program, and many have commented on the value of the program. Comments we have received from students include the following:

“The materials were thorough without being too difficult and it was easy to balance the course with other demands on my time (work, etc.).”

“Some courses were more relevant to what I do than others but all lead to an appreciation of how all the aspects fit together to make up the whole.”

“In every course I have taken I learn something new and I am able to take these ideas and adapt them to my library.”

Feedback from our students is very important to us. We read and every one of the evaluation forms to see how we can improve our courses. The information in the tutor section of the form is passed on to the tutors, so they can see also have an evaluation of their work as tutors. An online evaluation form link has been posted in this section of the web site. Please complete the form at the end of the current semester.

We are always trying to improve the EXCEL program and the courses that we offer. Your assessment of the course materials is used as we revise and refine individual courses. The information you provide on the work of your tutor is useful to us and to the tutor. Once processed, the assessment information concerning the tutor will be given back to the tutor. Please take a few minutes to provide us with your responses to a series of questions, and then to submit the form.
