VDX User Group Meetings – Fall 2008

The last VDX User Group meetings were in 2004 when we introduced a new version of VDX to users.  Since that time VDX users have incorporated several minor VDX upgrades and generic script communications with non VDX resource sharing partners, in and out of province.

It is again time to collect VDX users together for a meeting on resource sharing and VDX developments.  We would like to collect your suggestions for improvements to your resource sharing experience.  As VDX operators, come prepared to name your number one gripe (yes we care) and the thing you like the best about VDX or working in Interlibrary Loan in general (and yes we want to hear it).

Topics to be covered will include:

  • version 3.2.2 of VDX is coming before the end of 2008
  • future MARS release of VDX
  • reviewed and renewed network participation policies
  • using VDX to it’s full potential
  • patron initiated ILL
  • Library Book Shipping Tool
  • day to day practices in ILL departments
  • staples versus tape (so kidding!)

Presenter
Jill Pangborne works for SOLS as the INFO HelpDesk supervisor and manager of VDX operations and training.  She is the person to talk to for network participation policies and the ins and outs of using VDX effectively to enhance your libraries resource sharing experience.

Who should attend?  The VDX User Group meetings are intended for the hands-on VDX staff delivering interlibrary loan services in the library.

Registration:  Space in some locations is limited so registration is confined to no more than two staff from any one library system.  If registering for a session running in a location for 2 days (Belleville, Ottawa or Innisfil) please select your first choice.  We will attempt to load balance over these sessions, so there is a remote chance that you could be contacted to switch to the other option.
