Library RedesignWorkshop #2This full-day workshop is about re-thinking existing library space in a way that aligns its use with the library's mission and vision. Arlene Thompson will share the changes made to improve the function and appeal of branches of the London Public Library. Architect Tina Ranieri-D'Ovidio will explain the design process. Throughout the day, participants will earn about trends in library design that can be incorporated into existing library space. Presenter Arlene Thompson is Coordinator of Reference, Referral, Readers' Services & Technology at the Jalna Branch of the London Public Library. She has worked for LPL since 1990, as a Branch Manager since 1992. Since 2000, she has functioned as Project Manager for several branch library building projects (Crouch, East London, and Jalna). In 2007, Arlene was Project Manager for a "facelift" of the Pond Mills Branch and for the arrangement of public and staff areas at the Central Library. Presenter Tina Ranieri-D'Ovidio is a Project Architect with Makrimichalos Cugini Architects and has worked on a variety of public buildings, with her expertise concentrated over the past few years on Toronto Public Library projects involving additions and complex interior renovations. She is familiar with, and involved with, all aspects of project development, from client liaison to design, design development and construction drawings, and administration. Currently, Tina is working on the interior renovation and addition to the Cedarbrae Library in Toronto and the new School Support Centre for the Bluewater District School Board in Chesley, Bruce County.
