Policy DevelopmentWorkshop #3Policies provide staff with the tools they need to do their jobs effectively and provide the community with information on what they can expect from the library. Policies articulate the Board’s values and priorities and ensure equitable service to the public. When library trustees and CEO's neglect to develop and maintain policies, they are, in fact, making a decision to leave things to chance. This workshop for trustees, CEO's and library managers will provide participants with the information needed to successfully develop and maintain the library’s policies. Topics to be covered will include:
Participants will work together on drafting and evaluating policies. The day will provide an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences. Participants will receive samples of mandatory policies required by the Ontario Public Library Guidelines. By the end of the workshop, participants will be prepared to lead their Board's policy initiatives. These workshops will be presented by the consultants from Southern Ontario Library Service.
