Municipal Cultural Planning Forum - Affecting meaningful change: the role of libraries in municipal cultural planningWorkshop #6Municipalities across Ontario are realizing the transformative power of culture to shape our cities and towns, our economy, our lives and our futures. Discover how municipal cultural planning is driving economic growth and community development; explore the catalyzing role libraries can play in the municipal cultural planning process. Participants will hear and learn from experts in municipal cultural planning, and public library CEOs who have participated in local municipal cultural planning efforts. Public library staff who attend are invited and encouraged to bring along a municipal partner. This session is offered in partnership with the Municipal Cultural Planning Partnership. Presenters for this session are Greg Baeker, Mark Kuznicki, Stephen Nelson and Lori Sims. Greg Baeker is a consultant specializing in cultural planning and a nationally recognized leader in developing integrated cultural plans for cities. His Cultural Strategic Plan for Prince Edward County was awarded best strategic economic plan for 2006 from the Economic Development Council of Ontario. Mark Kuznicki is a researcher, writer and strategy consultant who is developing an innovative field of practice applying participatory methodologies and social web technology to public policy, social change and innovation problems. Mark's past projects have included the development of an Entertainment & Creative Cluster Strategy and a Cultural Policy Framework for the Ontario Ministry of Culture. Both Greg and Mark are key players in the province-wide efforts of the Municipal Cultural Planning Partnership. Stephen Nelson is the CEO of Woodstock Public Library and a member of the Municipal Cultural Planning Partnership. Lori Sims is the CEO of Oakville Public Library, where she has played a leadership role in developing a municipal cultural plan.
