PLEASE DESCRIBE THE FUTURE GOALS OF YOUR ‘FRIENDS GROUP’:

  • Friends put effort into book sales (2 or 3 per year). Formal goals are lacking due to limited number of active members, outside of the book sale participants.
  • The group has just started - its first goal was to establish a Board with the primary responsibility of adopting a constitution and by-laws - the group is now in the process of identifying a business and strategic plan
  • Still defining...giving ongoing support to the library
  • Maintain summer reading program
  • To build a new library
  • The Library is a small rural library open approximately 24 hours per week. The Friends Group was created to help support library programs that could not be funded or staffed within the annual library budget. This is our second year so our focus this year will be to become more structured (by-laws, constitution, nd charitable number application) and to continue with three fundraising events and two literacy events for the children of our community.
  • The group is only two years old - increase number of committed members. Volunteers needed during fundraising events. Continue to support library projects, i.e. summer programs.
  • To continue to support the Branch library through fundraising events
  • To come up with a 5 year plan and follow it through; automate the library; have sustainable volunteer base; to do more programming; to increase our library's profile in the community
  • Outreach to rural areas, children's programs
  • Fundraising for books, special programs, equipment, furniture and assistance with expansion
  • Library revitalization to make it 'child friendly'
  • Increase membership, more fundraising activities
  • Build executive group to sustain a future for friends group
  • Fundraising, promoting literacy
  • Unclear at this time
  • Will be providing matching funds for construction and equipment for future expansion of library serviceinto the basement space
  • Raise money for possible library expansion
  • The Friends work throughout the year to provide programs for children and adults, that will be of interestand value to the community. Our programs are fun as well as educational and are designed to expand the awareness of the many services provided by our community libraries. It is our goal to increase the use of our library facilities and services and to help nurture the appreciation of literature and culture in our communities. Through our membership fees and fundraising efforts, we not only provide programs but also help to meet the material needs for our libraries.
  • To continue to maintain fundraising events to help purchase materials for library
  • Continue funding special program events
  • To improve membership and assist library staff
  • No comment
  • Seniors' programs: homebound, library on wheels for nursing homes, large print/talking books, sponsoring outings, genealogy resources, on-site readings-musical entertainment. Children's programs: sponsoring authors, illustrators, story times, reading clubs. Teen volunteer program: participation in Friends programs, advice on ways Library can meet needs of today’s youth, volunteering to read for seniors. Quarterly newsletter.    Library advocacy. Memorials/honorarium books. Campaign for expanded services (attempt to consolidate our four branches into one central library). Fund raising for special programs.
  • There is talk of enlarging our Library in which case our fundraising will play a large part
  • Increase membership and continue to assist in the operation of the library
  • To keep our branch open and operating for years to come.
  • Maintain annual events and increase fund raising activities
  • Increase awareness of the library / maintain advocacy around funding levels
  • A large special event to become annual event
  • Filling the position of chairperson and adding projects to raise money
  • Currently working on building membership in order to expand the executive and share the workload. Once new (active) members are committed, we look forward to developing a once a year event that requires relatively little effort and brings in a large return.
  • Increase membership and fundraising, maintain advocacy and housebound service
  • Wish to increase numbers and provide a variety of interesting programs and fundraisers.
  • Spearhead fundraising campaign for library expansion project
  • Membership drive; develop a formal communications and advertising plan for 2003
  • Offer programming for young mothers (especially single mums); organize book clubs; offer more adult programs (guest speakers),
  • To grow steadily, sustain local interest and support, in order to give more support to the library
  • We have just started a Friends group. We had one meeting so far, and in the January meeting we will establish our goals. Our main one now is to make ourselves known in the community in order to gain new members. Then we want to get on the fundraising bandwagon.
  • To pay off the Building Fund debt, expand services to seniors e.g. computers; new child member outreach
  • To secure the Friends survival. Promote library related events unique to Library
  • Develop a music CD collection
  • Continued support for Library as it moves to a new facility - advocacy, fundraising for equipment and materials; increased membership and membership activities
  • To continue to support the Library and its goals
  • Increase membership and implement regular events
  • Currently working to develop a music CD collection for the library
  • Continue to support the local library with community programs and fundraise for "extras".
  • Our goal is to keep helping the library in every way we can
  • Fundraising, assistance in the library as needed
  • Continue holding used book sales; purchases for the Library
  • To continue support of the library supplying funds for programs and non-budgeted items
  • We are saving to help with a new library someday
  • To continue to raise awareness of library offerings, raise more money for future purchases and continue to press for further funding
  • Continued advocacy for importance of library in community.
  • Increase membership...increase fundraising....promote awareness (for both the library and the Friends)
  • Continue to support the Library
  • Support for the Library
  • Bring public into the Library
  • I would like to sponsor more programs, increase membership and fundraising
  • Promote more use of the library by public awareness i.e. book programs, house delivery, book bags, community activities
  • To be developed early in 2003
  • Increase funds raised; increase proportion of active members
  • The Friends are committed to maintaining strong and vibrant Library Services that include a network of accessible neighbourhood branches
  • New directions in programming
  • To enhance services that might otherwise be impossible; promote literacy; assist library in meeting the informational, cultural, educational and recreational needs of our community; to publicize library service
  • General fundraising
  • To continue as well as we are doing now
  • We are dedicated to raising funds for our Library that is a strong community force in our area.
  • To increase membership. To develop a new constitution and new set of bylaws that meet our current needs.
  • To raise money for library. To raise awareness of FOL. To raise awareness of importance of library in community.
