Provide 90% funding (100% funding to First Nations communities) at minimum wage. Each

Provides wage subsidies for businesses and community organizations who employ students
for the summer |

Most of the organizations that deliver
Job Connect
also help students find summer jobs through the Summer Jobs Service (SJS) and
employers find summer help. Call the toll-free Employment Ontario Hotline at
1-800-387-5656, or (416) 326-5656 in Toronto, for the name of the organization
delivering Job Connect in your area. The program is administered by a variety

Wage subsidies to private, public and not-for-profit employers to create career-related
summer jobs for students |

Not-for-profit employers are eligible for up to 100 per cent of the
provincial/territorial adult minimum hourly wage. |

Employers will be able to submit their applications
online, by mail, by fax, or in person to any Service Canada Centre.
Application assessment phase will be completed in April for student hiring in
May. |

Create jobs for young Canadians coast to coast, encourage understanding and appreciation
of Canada’s achievements, build connections among Canadians |

The deadline date for submitting applications is Feb 1, 2008 |
| Funding provided |
Funding for staff only. Minimum contribution of 25% by library is suggested.
Library must pay all mandatory costs. |
| Application process |
Must submit proposal for project that will provide job opportunities for youth in areas
such as research, automation, exhibits, digitization etc. Projects should be outside of daily operations.
Some examples include summer reading programs, recon, Internet training. Projects are chosen by the value of the
experience for the student. If the library contributes more than the minimum, the project is more likely to be chosen.

Help young Canadians gain necessary skills in the field of information technology,
interpersonal communications, as well as critical and creative thinking. Activities include delivering Internet
training sessions; researching and developing Web sites; drafting publicity materials; organizing information fairs and special events; providing technical support to the CAP site |
