General Resources
  • Access AMICUS on the Web is a new user-friendly graphical interface accommodating the needs of novice and expert searchers. Blending the best of Access AMICUS, resAnet and Romulus, it offers fee-based service to over 18 million records with over 30 million holdings in 500 Canadian libraries including Library and Archives Canada.

  • Canadian Rating System for Home Videos. The Canadian Rating System for Home Videos came into effect in May 1995, following collaboration by industry members, the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association, and the seven separate film classification boards. Ratings are produced by averaging the classifications assigned by provincial boards.
  • Internet Library for Librarians. (Library Supplies Vendor) A Portal Designed for Librarians to Locate Internet Resources Related to Their Profession.
  • Outsourcing of Library Services: Resources and Links (LibrarySupportstaff.com)
  • Technical Services Unlimited This is a great guide for acquisition and cataloguing librarians. The annotated directory includes sections of articles and reports; associations and programs, discussion groups and newsletters; foreign language aids; journals and newsletters; publishers and vendors; standards and policies; and workshops and conferences. Also a list of some of the best technical services pages in the Libraries and Departments section.

Free, up-to-date access to over 6000 subject authority records in the English language, providing in-depth coverage of Canadian topics, records displayed in both MARC 21 and thesaurus display and compatibility with Library of Congress Subject Headings

  • How to Acquire Cataloguing Materials ALA Library Fact Sheet Number 18 How to order the Dewey Decimal Classification System, the Library of Congress Subject Headings, the Sears List of Subject Headings, Cutter Tables, and the National Union Catalog.
  • Library of Congress Authorities. Using Library of Congress Authorities, you can browse and display authority headings for Subject, Name, Title and Name/Title combinations. You can also download authority records in MARC format for use in a local library system. This service is offered free of charge

  • National Library of Canada’s MARC Record Distribution Service (MRDS) This subscription service offers the National Library's bibliographic and authority records in machine-readable form either as complete files or, for the bibliographic records, as a selected records option. The National Library's serial records, supplemented by the OCLC serial records, are offered as a full CONSER file. Records are distributed by file transfer.

  • COPIBEC a pour mission de gérer, au nom des éditeurs et des auteurs québécois qui lui en ont confié le mandat, les droits de reproduction de leurs œuvres imprimées (livres, journaux et périodiques).La société gère tant la reproduction sur support papier par des moyens traditionnels comme la photocopie et la télécopie que celle faite sur support électronique (cédérom, banque de données, Internet …). COPIBEC a également conclu des ententes bilatérales avec des sociétés de gestion à l'extérieur du Québec tel ACCESS Copyright afin que ces sociétés autorisent la reproduction des œuvres comprises dans le répertoire de COPIBEC et que, de même, COPIBEC puisse autoriser la reproduction au Québec des œuvres provenant d'ailleurs.

  • Règles de cataloguage anglo-américaines Les RCAA2/Web constituent la version électronique des ClassWeb que l'ASTED (Association pour l'avancement des sciences et techniques de la documentation) est responsable de publier et de mettre à jour. Le corpus de base des RCAA2 a été converti intégralement avec un souci du respect de la forme de la version imprimée.
  • REPÈRE (SDM) Un index analytique qui permet de retracer l'information parue depuis 1980 dans des périodiques de langue française publiés au Québec, ailleurs au Canada, en France, en Belgique et en Suisse.
