About the Theme

The 2009 First Nations Public Library Week Planning Committee selected the theme: Knowledge Keepers: Speak Up for First Nation Public Libraries!

The theme relates to the Speak Up for First Nation Public Libraries! advocacy campaign funded by the Ministry of Culture and increases public awareness of First Nation public libraries in Ontario and the important role First Nation public library staff play in their communities.

About the Poster

The poster promotes the important contribution First Nation public libraries and librarians can make to four capacity building areas critical to the futures of First Nation communities: Information Literacy, Archival Development, Program Development, and Community Development. The resource and programming support First Nation public libraries can bring to these key areas can help overcome illiteracy and build stronger First Nation communities.

Ontario Library Service-North has designed, printed, and distributed the First Nations Public Library Week 2009 poster.
