The fifth edition of Library Board Orientation Kit was published in
2004. Originally called the Trustee Orientation Kit, this publication
began in 1991 as a component of the Library Trustee Development program
that was led by the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS) and
supported by Ontario Library Service-North (OLS-N), with the assistance
of the Ministry responsible for public libraries.
Trustee Tips is a series of bulletins on topics of concern to library
board members. Originally conceived as part of the Library Trustee
Development Program, and available through a subscription, the
publications are now available free of charge from our website. The
titles in the series, along with the original publication dates, are
listed here. Please note that all of the publications are in .pdf
format, except Trustee Tips #6.
Trustee 20/20 was a series of four self-study modules that were
produced in the mid-1990s to provide more in-depth information on topics
such as the board’s role in the planning process and in CEO’s
performance appraisal. Modules can be completed individually or as part
of a board training session.
