Instructions for borrowing from Ontario Public Libraries
|
Français |
These instructions are for staff in non-public libraries within
Ontario or public or non-public libraries outside of Ontario without an ILL management system or
with one that is not capable of
interoperability with the VDX interlibrary loan network of Ontario
public libraries. Welcome to the resources of Ontario public libraries
through Interlibrary loan. Your requests submitted on this web request
form will be mediated by agency staff and you will receive an email
response when a Non-Supply status is determined.
This service is NOT intended for individuals but
rather for libraries that are not part of this consortium. Requests from
individuals will be neither filled nor acknowledged.
The Steps:
- Please
use this link to search our bibliographic resources. When your
browser presents the "Welcome to INFO" screen – it is not necessary
or possible for you to "Login".
- Select the "Bibsearch" button in the left panel.
- Select a profile (groupings of library collections) to search
against.
N.B: The profile listing of catalogues you use to search for
bibliographic records does not completely represent libraries that
you might be borrowing the item from. ALL databases available to the
VDX system will be searched automatically at a later stage for
holdings information for the purposes of sending out your ILLO
request. Bottom Line: Do not concern yourself with where the item is
located.
- Perform a Standard (key word anywhere in record) or Advanced
(Boolean) search.
- Select the "Details" button on the search result screen of the
record you are interested in. You can print this (File/ Print). If
you select the "Request" button on the search result screen, you
will be prompted to Login, which you can not do. To get back to the
search result screen, use the "Bibsearch" button in the left panel.
When that screen loads, select the "Results" button at the top of
the screen to get your previous search result screen.
-
Please use this link to access the web request form. Fill it in
as prompted. You do not need to indicate locations. Your request
will be searched again to verify and find all possible public
library locations in the province.
- Your request will be mediated by interlibrary loan staff in the
Toronto office of Southern Ontario Library Service. If a Non-Supply
status is determined you will receive an email notification.
- Please allow a few weeks time before sending inquires and
include key details like author, title, ISBN or ISSN, the name of
your library, and the date your request was submitted.
- If you need to cancel, renew or inquire please send request
details in an email to:
