Networking & Meetings

SOLS offers opportunities for staff and trustees to make contact with each other and share problem-solving solutions and advice.

  • Library Committee meetings, offered three times a year in seven locations, give library CEOs and senior staff an opportunity to discuss common issues and participate in clinics on relevant topics. A First Nation Gathering provides skill development and networking opportunities for First Nations library staff.
  • New CEO Peer Group. Designed to support newly appointed CEOs, the Peer Group “meets” online as a virtual community of practice that offers a safe place to ask questions and seek advice. In addition, there are webinars for new CEOs offered twice a year.
  • Trustee Councils are held twice a year in 8 locations. The meetings are a combination of networking, information sharing and updates on various issues of concern to public library trustees.
  • We host Listservs (39 in all). These are forums for users to participate in discussions or receive information on thousands of topics.
  • Communities of Practice - PeerHQ
  • SOLS staff also organize occasional meetings for special interest groups and attend other groups' networking meetings.
